Fox
Island and Whalebone Point
Here are some photos of Fox Island taken last winter. Whalebone
Point (just across an arm of Blackfish Creek from Fox Islandis a recent land
parcel acquired by the town and Conservation Trust. Both are well worth a visit.
In the Winter you will have it all to yourself.
At Fox Island parking lot turnaround (at end of King Phillip Rd.) looking East. Be warned: only 3-4 cars can park here.
Looking South toward Lt. Island.
The path to the beach.
Winter storm (Dec 7, 2005) washed up pretty far.
At midtide you cannot see the shellfish aquaculture grants. Great Island is on the horizon.
At low tide you can see them clearly.
Looks like you could walk over to Lt. Island.
Here we are walking around to the left ...looking toward Pleasant Point (I think).
And here , a little further to the left, we are looking over at Whalebone Point.
See if you can find these secluded Wellfleet walking treasures on this map.
Happy hiking, birding and exploring!
